Additionally, this work is titled and dated: "Carmel Valley 1964" on the verso. Paulovits is not a household name outside of Hungary, and apparently, he traveled to the Carmel, California area in the 1960's, as several of his etchings depict well known locations in Carmel, including the famous "Tuck Box" and Carmel Mission. This is his only known existing oil painting from his time in California. Approximately 13 1/4 x 17 1/4 inches including frame. Actual artwork is approximately 12 x 16 inches.
Very good condition for age, with some light scuffing and edge wear to the original period gilded frame. Acquired in San Gabriel Valley, California. If you like what you see, I encourage you to make an Offer. Please check out my other listings for more wonderful and unique artworks! Paulovits was born in Hungary, in 1892, and was (for many years) a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest.
